Welcome to ISB!

"International School Bangkok (ISB) was the first international school in Thailand and in 2021 we celebrated our 70th birthday. ISB has a proud history of providing a high quality international education in Thailand and has had a profound impact on different generations of students, teachers, parents and staff. The modern facility we see today is a far cry from 1951 and the original wooden building on stilts that represented our first 'campus' on the grounds of the U.S. Embassy in central Bangkok. It is also very different from the days on our Sukhumvit campus when enrollment soared to over 3,600 students during the Vietnam War and two school sessions per day were needed to accommodate the large number of children.

This will be argued fervently by past generations of ISB students, but the ISB students of today are the most fortunate in the school’s history. We are blessed with a magnificent and beautiful campus, all the technology we can wish for, superb facilities for athletics and the arts, and a great learning environment. ISB is now also the proud owner of its Environmental Wilderness Campus in Petchaburi province, a beautiful setting that serves as a base for our outdoor education program, IB Science & Geography field studies, retreats for sports teams and arts groups and a number of service related activities. Most importantly of all, however, we are privileged to have 220 of the best educators from around the world, an international student body of 1700 students and 60 nationalities, and a wonderfully capable and supportive Classified Staff. A good school is not about the facilities and the resources, however, but about the people and its core beliefs.

Our core beliefs are represented well in our Vision Statement, “Enriching communities through the intellectual, humanitarianism, and creative thoughts and actions of our learners” and what this means is that ISB students are prepared to improve whatever community they are in, making good use of their academic and creative abilities.

Above all else, education must be about preparing students to make a positive impact on our world and our aims are very much captured by the words of educational scholar, Howard Gardner, when he writes – “I want my children to understand the world, but not just because the world is fascinating and the human mind is curious. I want them to understand it so that they will be positioned to make it a better place.”

If we can help you with anything, please make contact with us and we will gladly follow up."
