ISB’s Transitions Program is a unique preparation program for English as an Additional Language (EAL) students in grades 6 through 10. Students enroll in this program for 15 weeks. The first program starts in second semester with enrollment open until April. Students in the program with the intent to transition into their appropriate grade level classes in August of the following school year.
The goals for students in the program are to:
- Increase their English vocabulary and develop skills in reading comprehension, listening, speaking, and writing through content-rich activities.
- Familiarize students with the ISB community to help develop friendships and transition more easily into the school environment.
Students practice their English language skills and learn about the ISB community to increase their social and academic readiness for ISB the following school year. Students will spend time as a mixed-grade cohort exploring topics centered around math, science, social studies, and English language arts.
