With decades of experience, the University Counseling team at ISB is expertly positioned to guide students to the courses and higher education schools of their dreams. Between us, we have visited over 500 universities in 25 countries and many of us have direct experience 'on the other side' as university admissions professionals.

We aim to:

Support

students through thoughtful self-reflection to understand their future goals, in line with the values and attributes of the ISB Mission and Vision

Teach

each student to identify and evaluate a wide range of post-secondary options around the world that complement their academic and personal achievements, talents, ambitions and potential.

Adhere

to ethical standards established by internationally recognized professional associations of university counselors and admission officers.

the diversity of our learners, and partner with our students as individuals with unique needs and goals, and, with their families, to ensure that all of our students’ intellectual, personal and social wellbeing attributes are valued and affirmed.

Programs we offer

University Family Nights

Seminars

Seminars: During the school day, students meet in groups with their university counselor to prepare their post-secondary plans.

Junior Seminar: Students meet 8 times over two semesters to begin self-reflection, learn about their options globally, identify priorities and preferences, and conduct initial university research. Students will also begin writing rough drafts of their university application essays, and request letters of recommendation.
Senior Seminar: Students meet 8 times over two semesters to execute their plan of action from grade 11, focusing on completing their university applications with counselor support.

University Parent Coffees

Parents are invited to monthly coffees with university counselors that focus on a variety of topics ranging from country specific opportunities (e.g. Australia, or the US), to financing higher education and supporting parents through the student transition to university. Parents from the Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Thai communities are invited to community meetings in semester 2.

University Visits and Fairs

ISB hosts more than 300 university admission representatives on our campus each year, and holds two fairs annually: the Greater Bangkok World Fair and the Thai Universities Fair. Many universities visit ISB during the school day to meet with students. University counselors also share information about university events happening in downtown Bangkok and virtually throughout the year.

Memberships

ISB university counselors are active members in regional and international higher education organizations. These include: Council of International Schools, East Asian Regional Council of Schools, International Association for College Admission Counseling, International Career and College Counseling Association (IC3), National Association for College Admission Counseling, Thai University Counselors.
