Transferable and Meaningful

The ISB Curriculum

At International School Bangkok (ISB) we believe in learning that is meaningful and transferable, where understanding is constructed by developing and applying knowledge, skills and attitudes. We have 3 dedicated curriculum specialists on campus, as part of our Learning Design Center who focus on bringing the best learning opportunities to our students. Alongside our ISB Curriculum, we offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program (DP).

TRANSFERABLE LEARNING

Transferable learning is at the heart of ISB’s programs. We want our students to be able to transfer their learning from one context to another. We support this through curriculum frameworks that identify the big ideas within and across subjects. These frameworks have three components:

  1. Long term transfer goals describing the independent goals we have for our learners.
  2. Essential questions identifying what we ask our learners to grapple with.
  3. Enduring understandings describing what we want our learners to understand.

INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE

ISB was the first school in Thailand to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program (DP) and our students hold an average score of 35 points, compared to a world average of 30. The IB DP is a rigorous two-year pre-university curriculum, primarily aimed at students aged 16 to 19. It leads to a qualification that is widely recognized by the world’s leading universities and many award advanced standing or university credit for successfully completed IB diplomas and courses.
