Life-Centered Education (LCE) Program

The Life-Centered Education (LCE) program offers a fully modified, individualized learning experience designed specifically for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our program emphasizes the development of independence and essential life skills, focusing on functional academics and daily living tasks that empower students to thrive both in school and beyond.

Students in the LCE program benefit from one-on-one support tailored to their unique needs, with personalized instruction provided by highly trained educators and instructional assistants. As part of a comprehensive, team-based approach, students also receive services from Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, and School Psychologists, all of whom are integrated into daily classroom activities.

Whenever possible, students are included in regular ISB classrooms and extracurricular activities, promoting inclusion and fostering both social and academic growth. The LCE program culminates in an LCE Diploma, marking the successful completion of a modified academic pathway aligned with each student’s developmental progress.

Through this collaborative, holistic approach, the LCE program prepares students for increased independence and ensures they are equipped with the skills needed to succeed in adulthood.

The Life Skills strand equips students with practical daily living, vocational, and executive functioning skills, while fostering self-awareness and personalized post-secondary planning to support confident, meaningful, and independent lives.

The Internship Strand promotes job readiness skills, and supports the transition planning for student adn family. They get to create their CV, practice interviews, and get real world job experiences with support as needed.
