What to expect in the High School
ISB High School is a four-year, North American-modeled program. Students' courses accumulate credits toward graduation, resulting in a High School Diploma. With an extensive choice of courses in the High School, it is rare to find any two students undertaking the exact same timetable - it really is a personal academic journey.
In Grades 9 and 10, (Freshmen and Sophomore) students study a core of subjects, plus electives and any other courses or student support services. These courses are based on international standards.
In Grades 11 and 12, (Junior and Senior), students have the opportunity to take the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma course, or a Personal Choice Diploma - with or without Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Students taking the Personal Choice Diploma can also take individual IB subjects and earn IB Certificates. Our courses are designed to thoroughly prepare students for university study.
At ISB students in Grades 11 and 12 all participate in Core, which is a class dedicated to supporting students with four different elements: Theory of Knowledge, CAS, the Extended Essay and College Counselling Seminars.
Students who have opted to take the Personal Choice Diploma attend CAS and College Seminars, during Core. The remaining periods are free.
Students who take the full IB Diploma attend all sessions to help them fulfil the IB Diploma Core and receive guidance through the college seminars.
In addition to academic courses, students are required to take part in the week-long DELVE course every year of High School.
Thai government regulations mandate all Thai students take language, literature and civics courses, then national exams in Grades 9 and 12.
