Navigating US Higher Education: Insights from the ISB Family Forum

On August 27, the ISB community filled the ISB Theater for a rare opportunity to hear directly from senior leaders in US higher education and college admissions. Hosted by ISB University Counseling, the evening brought together seven experts to share candid insights on how selective US universities evaluate international applicants.

The forum focused on key questions shaping admissions today: How do colleges approach holistic review? What impact has test optional policy truly had? How can students highlight international perspectives in their applications? What trends such as the rise of AI and demographic shifts are influencing the future of admissions?

In a moderated Q and A format, families guided the conversation by submitting questions in advance, ensuring the dialogue addressed the issues most relevant to our community. The exchange was lively, informative, and reassuring, giving parents and students greater clarity on what matters most in the application process and how to support students effectively.

The evening was a resounding success, leaving families better informed and more confident as they navigate the path to higher education. Events like this reflect ISB’s commitment to bringing our community together around meaningful learning experiences.
