While most 10 year olds were navigating playgrounds, Pandin Nawin Napiphanon was navigating apexes. For this ISB alum, motorsport was never just a hobby – it was a calling.

Today, Pandin isn’t just a student of the game; he’s a Formula 4 driver competing on the world renowned tracks of Italy and beyond. His journey from the ISB classroom to the international racetrack is a masterclass in what happens when raw passion meets a world class support system.

Finding the Line: Discovering Passion Early

The "lightbulb moment" happened early. By age 10, Pandin realized that the adrenaline of the track could be harnessed into a professional career. By 12, while his peers were enjoying typical weekends, Pandin was already clocking hours in a racing seat, refining the discipline required to go pro.

"It was when I was around 10 that I noticed you can take motorsport seriously," Pandin recalls.

The ISB Pit Crew: Support at Every Turn

In the world of racing, a driver is only as good as their team. For Pandin, ISB served as his academic "pit crew." Balancing a grueling international racing schedule with high school academics is a challenge that requires more than just talent – it requires a flexible, supportive environment.

How ISB Fueled His Success:

  • Academic Agility: ISB worked closely with Pandin to ensure he never fell behind, providing materials and support that allowed him to catch up on weekends between races.
  • The Engineer Mindset: Formula 4 isn’t just about driving fast; it’s about technical communication. ISB focus on clear articulation helped Pandin talk to his mechanics with precision.
  • Time Management: Racing requires split second decisions; ISB taught him the responsibility needed to manage a dual track life.

"ISB taught me you have to become more responsible for yourself... If you do not learn how to explain, you will not be able to talk to the engineer well."

Stepping Up: The Formula 4 Challenge

The transition from karting to Formula 4 is a massive leap. The cars are faster, the engineering is more complex, and the stakes are significantly higher. It wasn’t just Pandin reflexes that were tested – it was his mental fortitude.

"Preparation was the hardest part," Pandin says. "ISB taught me how to be more focused."

Full Circle: A Champion Returns

Returning to the ISB campus as a professional driver was a poignant moment for Pandin. It served as a reminder of where his foundation was built and how far he has come.

"It is actually good to come back and see ISB. I want to go to bigger steps and ISB has definitely helped that."

Advice for the Next Generation

What does a pro driver tell the students following in his footsteps? Start early and speak up.
