BBSA supports and sends “All-Star” teams each year to participate in the Southeast Asia Youth Baseball and Softball Tournament (SEAYBST), over several days of international tournament games. SEAYBST is hosted annually on a rotating basis by one of five participating members: Bangkok, Jakarta, Manila, Singapore and Perth. We are proud to announce that this year’s tournament will be held here in Bangkok at ISB, and will take place from Wednesday, March 23rd through to Saturday evening, March 26th 2016.
Teams play round-robin and playoff games, capped off by an awards ceremony on the final night. This is a competitive league and players must try out and be selected to make the teams. Teams generally consist of up to 14 players, including alternates. This year, our BBSA organization will be represented by one team in each of the following divisions to compete in the 2016 SEAYBST Tournament:
Minors Baseball: cannot be 13 before April 1, 2016
Majors Baseball: cannot be 15 before April 1, 2016
Seniors Baseball: cannot be 19 before April 1, 2016
Girls Majors Softball: cannot be 15 before January 1, 2016
Girls Seniors Softball: cannot be 19 before January 1, 2016
Parents: Participation is a significant commitment. Players will practice at least twice week, and must commit to playing in other overseas tournaments, depending on invitations received.
School absences: Historically, ISB has granted excused absences to student-athletes participating in the SEAYBST, with students making up work upon return (however, this is not guaranteed). The tournament committee expects the same this year and is working with ISB to ensure its support.
