International Recognition of the IB
Students earning the IB Diploma have a wide range of options for university admissions worldwide. For many countries, Australia, the UK, and other European countries, the IB Diploma is the most direct route for entrance into university. In North America, the IB Diploma is widely recognized as a challenging, rigorous course of study for post-secondary academic preparation. Some universities in the U.S. now offer automatic admission if a student earns the IB Diploma, and some will offer sophomore standing depending on the IB Diploma total score.
All students in IB classes are expected to take the eamination. For information on how IB Certificates and the IB Diploma can earn a student college or university admission and/or credit, access the website, www.ibo.org/diploma/recognition/directory Listed on this site, by country, are the national or university specific policies for recognition of both the IB Diploma and/or Certificates. The range of credit, scholarships and other benefits awarded to IB Diploma and Certificate students is broad. All IB exam takers should request official results to be sent directly to their university or college prior to class registration.
