ISB is fortunate to have many resources for students requiring additional assistance.
Our High School has five counselors which provide assistance with careers, college placement, course selection, and personal issues.
Flex time is a 45-minute period after school where students have the opportunity to meet with teachers for academic assistance, make-up work or tests.
Intensive Studies/Special Needs (IS) students have a period of instruction every other day for compensatory skills while a supervised Academic Lab is available for students who may be underachieving.
For English as a Second Language (ESL) students, ISB has pioneered a Sheltered Immersion Model of Instruction whereby ESL students are immersed and supported in the mainstream classrooms and receive direct language instruction and content support in ESL classes. A series of English Language Workshops (ELW) provide specific, targeted language instruction in the four basic skill areas; while English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Center classes provide integrated language instruction and content support during EAP Center classes, as well as before and after school.
