General Panther Swim Team Information

The Panther Swim Team is a parent run organization.   The team is solely supported by registration fees, fundraisers and sponsorships.

Team Fees and Policies

Families pay 2 different fees to swim with the Panthers.  These fees are the Panther Swim Team program fee and the Panther Swim Team registration fee.  In addition each family is asked to commit to a certain level of fundraising and volunteer activity.  This is very important to ensure that the team meets its annual budget and the success of its annual events.

Program fees

Semester fees are payable at registration in August and January each year.  Fees are based on the squad assignments for each swimmer as of the registration dates.  The coaching staff makes every effort to be sure that swimmers are allocated to the proper squad prior to registration.  While it is very rare, occasionally a swimmer changes groups during the semester.  If a swimmer changes during the semester fees are prorated if there is a fee change.  For any squad change requiring a larger fee, both the coach and parents must sign off on the change.  Program fees cover coaches' salaries, use of the facility and various other administrative costs.

Association fees

This fee is paid once per year.   This fee covers registration and some additional small budget items.

Withdrawal/Late Registration Policy

•1.      Late registration for other than health related circumstances or late enrollment in ISB results in no fee adjustment.

•2.      Leaving the Team after 6 weeks of training for any reason results in no refund.

•6.      Any refund given means that a swimmer may not rejoin the team until the next semester.

•7.      The 6th week of practice in the fall semester of 2011 ends September 23.

Registration

All Panther fees in arrears from the previous semester/season must be paid before a swimmer can register for the new semester.

Fundraising

Fundraising is essential to meet the operating costs of the Panther Swim Team.  Each year we hold the Swimathon in late September.  Funds raised during the Swimathon support the Job and Maria Scholarship fund as well as the IGF which helps students who were orphaned by the tsunami.  All swimmers are expected to participate. Not only do we raise money for these funds but we have in the past also used the proceeds to purchase needed equipment and to subsidize our end of the year and end of the semester celebrations.

Volunteer Commitment

Volunteering is essential to successfully conduct meets and other activities in support of swimmers.  The team requires that the parent or guardian of each swimmer volunteers for sessions to support team events.  Each session is typically a 4-5 hour period, providing service for a team event.  When you register you are asked to specify your volunteer opportunity.   While the Panther Swim Team provides the option to pay to meet this requirement via a cash payment, we prefer that you volunteer.  We need committed parents to successfully run our Team.

Travel Policy

Team travel is arranged for selected meets.  For each international meet involving travel, a fee is identified prior to the meet.  This fee is used to defray the cost of the traveling coach or coaches.  Since we are a parent run organization, the school does not take care of these costs.  The fee takes care of the coaches' airfare, hotel and standard per diem.  This fee must be paid before the swimmer competes in any races at the meet.

The Panther Swim Team requires all swimmers who compete in meets the team attends which require overnight stay to travel with and be supervised by a parent or legal guardian at all times.

Exception: the ISB Panther Swim Team recognizes that there may be a rare occasion where a swimmer needs to travel without a parent or legal guardian.  Under these circumstances the swimmer, regardless of age, must have:

•1.      An appointed chaperone; (swimmers are not allowed to use a supervising Panther Swim Coach as a chaperone).

•2.      Written approval from the Head Coach and Panther Swim Team Board Members.

•3.      A liability waiver signed by the swimmer, the swimmer's parents or legal guardians and the supervising chaperone.
