Update on ISB supported project

The Music room
Classes are taught in the music room during school hours. It is a wonderful, open room that gets plenty of light and breeze. Students really seem to enjoy the room and can be found practicing at all times, including weekends. Students also use the room to practice their instruments after school. The sounds of music can be heard every night coming from the music room.

Update on ESL Program at R35, as of May, 2010

First Semester:
During this year's first semester, we had four volunteers, all of whom were American.  Ms.Kelsey, Ms.Monique, Mr. George, and Ms.Leise from Princeton in Asia.  These teachers were well loved by our students and spent a great deal of extra time after class hours talking, playing games, and engaging in other English language building activities with the students.

Second Semester:
Our second semester volunteers make up one of the best groups of teachers that we have ever had.  In addition to our continuing PIA fellow, Ms.Leise, a second (Mr.Rafael), has arrived and is off to a great start.  Additionally, we have two returning teachers, Ms.Wai Yee and Mr.Avi, both of whom possess excellent Thai language skills as well as years of teaching experience. Wai Yee began teaching at R35 in 2006 and has just returned from the United States with a master's degree in language teaching from The School for International Training (one of the best MATESOL programs in the county.)  Avi taught at R35 for a period of 18 months, beginning in 2007, and after spending a year in Bangkok teaching at Siam University, has returned to the US.  In addition to providing high level teaching in their classrooms, Avi and Wai Yee are actively developing the teaching abilities and the Thai language skills of our newer volunteers.

This school year has been quite successful, and we have high expectations for our next graduating class.  ISB's continued support for this program is making a tremendous impact on the lives of the students at R35.
