Mascot, Symbol, & Seal

ISB has a rich heritage dating back to 1951 when the school began its life on the grounds of the U.S. Embassy. The oldest International School in Thailand, ISB has a vibrant alumni association that continues to keep the ISB flame burning around the world.

No school would be complete without a mascot with ISB's mascot being the mighty panther. Our Parent Teacher Auxillary (PTA) sells a variety of fun ISB panther related items that adults and students often wear to show their school spirit.

Our school symbol is composed of multiple triangles. The gold triangle represents the 3 components of education that work together as a team—students, teachers, and parents. The inner triangle represents the heritage with our host country. Our school's initials are overlaid on the gold triangle. As the first International School in Thailand, our name is simply International School Bangkok (ISB).

At the center of our school seal is the Hanuman. In Hindu mythology, the Hanuman is the divine monkey chief in the Indian epic, Ramayana (Romance of Rama), written by Valmiki over 2000 years ago and at the core of Thai culture. Hanuman aided Rama in rescuing his wife from the demon thereby acquiring divine rank. As the conqueror of demons and hostile spirits, as a god of strength and wisdom, and as an unselfish and faithful friend, Hanuman is held in high esteem in Thai culture and thus was chosen to represent ISB as the official school seal.
