The following procedure was proposed by the MS Student Council to reflect the feelings of the Student Body. The procedure was adopted by the MS Administration in 2005 and is now our established procedure for selecting teams.
"As Middle School students, we would ask that our Activities Program is designed to meet our developmental needs. Because of our very nature, we are in the midst of exploring and experimenting with various parts of who we are so we might discover where we can excel. These areas could be anywhere from the visual or performing arts, to athletics, or even other disciplines in our classroom.
"Like all adolescents, we might show very different motivations, attitudes, and behaviors, depending on what class or activity we are in. We appreciate that our MS Activities program attempts to encourage everyone to participate in any activity they have an interest in.
"To help encourage us discover where we can excel, we suggest that the following process be used if a team or activity needs to select participants (not given in any rank):
"We are trying to become good citizens and want to be challenged in areas that we enjoy so that we can learn and grow in those areas, and feel good about our success."
