Dutch lessons

The Dutch Cultural Society (DCS) provides Dutch lessons at ISB for children with Dutch as their mother tongue (and who speak it at home) for all grades in Elementary School through Middle and High School. In grade 11 it's possible to choose Dutch as part of the IB diploma.

ISB provides the classrooms, also if instruction is given after regular school hours. The main classroom is located on the 4th floor of the new building (room 8-401).

The lessons for grade 1 last 1.5 hours and take place once a week. Grades 3-8 receive two lessons a week of 1.5 hours each. Also grades 7-10 receive 4 after-school lessons per week (2 hours with required homework). For IB, Dutch is included as an elective course for the IB diploma, and High School students can take this course during regular school hours.

DCS is controlled and accredited by the Stichting Nederlands Onderwijs in het Buitenland (the Foundation for Overseas Dutch Education). We work with qualified teachers and use the most modern educational methods. To maintain quality and keep track of student progress we make use of the CITO student monitoring system. The DCS is regularly visited by an educational inspector, who performs an audit and drafts a report. Due to the high quality level transferring to Dutch language education in the Netherlands or Belgium is not a problem.
