Cultural Convention
The Interscholastic Association of Southeast Asia Schools (IASAS) is committed to providing opportunities for students to participate in the Fine and Performing Arts, and Forensics through the organization of Cultural Conventions. The conventions will offer these opportunities through workshops, productions, concerts, or exhibits, and, specifically in the case of Forensics and debate, to also offer these opportunities through competition. Some events are adjudicated. Conducted annually, the goal of each convention is to nurture students' talents, skills, and self-confidence in specific areas of expertise as well as to develop their interests and appreciation for other aspects of the arts and public speaking.
IASAS assumes this mission with the dual goals of meeting the needs of our Fine and Performing Arts students and providing our IASAS schools with forums within which to promote the arts as lifelong interests for all students. Advancement of this mission shall be in concert with the reasonable policies and procedures of the IASAS member schools which are mutually agreed upon by the IASAS and which apply directly to Cultural Convention.
ISB will be hosting a Bangkok Debate and Forensic Invitational Tournament on January 23, 2010 where students and coaches from Bangkok international schools will join us for some friendly competition.
The Cultural Convention activities for the 2009-2010 school year will take place from March 4 through March 8, 2010. The Art & Music convention will be hosted by International School Manila while Dance, Drama, Debate & Forensics will take place at Taipei American School.
