About the Girl Guides

The Girl Guides Association of Thailand (GGAT) is a member organization of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS). If you're familiar with the Girl Scouts of the U.S.A., the Girl Guides of the U.K.Guides Australia, or any of the 145 WAGGGS countries, then you're familiar with the Girl Guides! All girls aged 5 - 17 are eligible to join, regardless of national origin, and no previous experience is required. Kindergarten boys may also join the Littlebirds.

Flocks and troops are guided by volunteer leaders and divided by age group:

  • Littlebirds: Kindergarten (age 5-6) girls and boys (boys may join Cub Scouts in Grade 1).
  • Bluebirds: Grades 1-3 (age 6-9)
  • Girl Guides: Grades 4-6 (age 9-11)
  • Senior Girl Guides: Grades 7-12 (age 11-17)

Flocks and troops meet weekly, biweekly, or once or twice monthly, depending on what works best for our volunteer leaders. Groups that meet at school generally meet for one hour right after class is released so that bus riders can ride the ES Activity Bus home.

The flocks and troops that meet at ISB, along with the flocks and troops at other international schools around Bangkok, form GGAT's International Division.
